Outside Sales Representative

Position Summary

If you know anything about the construction business, you know that getting the right products to the right site on time and safely is the benchmark of success. It is both challenging and rewarding work. We are Team Convoy, we are a distributor of construction materials, we supply roofing, building envelope and below grade materials and we want folks with great people skills on our team because, in the end – people make all the difference.

The successful candidate will analyze the current database and identify potential customers to add new product offerings to their lineup. Then working closely with the Inside Sales team, consider all the information, create and present the USP to our customers. These existing customers are new business development for Building Envelope. Be aware of the market conditions; pricing, competition, competitor products, customer credit risks, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with current accounts to deliver high-level service and ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Identify potential prospects and take appropriate actions to develop new accounts.
  • Research and identify market trends to maintain awareness of competitive activity in the roofing industry.
  • Evaluate and modify marketing, pricing, and selling strategies to meet the market demands.
  • Understand and learn about the products we sell and interact regularly with suppliers to learn about new or upcoming innovations.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all orders are accurate, quotations are provided in a timely manner, and issues are addressed promptly.
  • Conduct site visits with clients to address their ongoing sales needs.
  • Create and maintain data in systems and software (including Excel and Salesforce) to ensure reliable and accurate statistics for reporting purposes.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and community initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in a sales role, preferably within the residential roofing, construction materials, or distributions industry.
  • Ability to read and understand construction specifications, drawings, and technical data is considered an asset.
  • College diploma in business or related industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Proactive problem-solver that can present a variety of options and solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
  • Valid passport required for international travel.
