Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) is looking for a skilled and passionate leader to join our People and Culture team as Manager, People Services. Located in picturesque Central Ontario just 90 minutes north of Toronto, this is an opportunity to lead and inspire in a progressive and growing environment.
 
The Manager within the People & Culture Portfolio will have a meaningful hand in how GBGH attracts, supports, and engages employees, volunteers, learners and professional staff. This is a role for someone eager to bring new ideas, lead a dedicated team, and drive modern people practices that help build a workplace where individuals feel valued, supported, and connected to our shared purpose. In light of a vacancy, GBGH is currently reviewing what this portfolio will include but will be some combination of workforce analytics, labour and employee relations, total rewards and payroll, volunteer services, talent acquisition, staffing office, and professional staff recruitment and retention. Above all else the Manager will help ensure that excellent care at GBGH remains personal and meaningful for patients, staff and the community.
 
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Manager will be a key pillar in GBGH meeting its strategic objective of Dedicated Team. The Manager, People Services will join GBGH at a time of growth and transformation, where people and culture are at the centre of how care is delivered. The Manager will focus on delivering on organizational wide initiatives, providing strategic advice as a trusted partner, and support day to day operations of the selected department. This role offers the chance to bring fresh ideas and strong leadership to human resources work that matters, from using workforce data to drive innovative strategies, to building relationships that support both employees and professional staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The Manager will work closely with members of the leadership team, frontline staff, and community partners. They will guide and support their team in achieving GBGH’s objectives and will often be called upon to navigate complex situations and provide valued guidance to help drive results.
 
The successful candidate will bring:
  • Experience in a management role, leading people-focused programs in a complex organization
  • At least five years of progressive human resources experience, ideally in a healthcare or large organizational setting
  • A university degree in human resources, health administration, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • CHRL designation or active progress toward certification is preferred
  • Proven ability to provide solutions-focused advice within the portfolio, while building engagement, managing risk, and delivering results
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage at all levels and lead with empathy, integrity, and alignment with GBGH’s values and employee value proposition
  • Strong skills in policy interpretation, labour and employee relations, and applying collective agreements
  • Familiarity with HR systems and analytics, with experience in platforms like UKG, Talent Pool Builder, or Meditech considered an asset
  • Experience managing budgets and aligning resources with organizational priorities
  • As a partially designated French-speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset
 
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this role is $111,000 to $131,000 annually. The successful candidate will also be eligible for up to 5% pay for performance. GBGH offers 100% employer-paid extended health benefits, an annual personal spending account, participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), and access to apply to education grants.
